Why does Easy View ask me for a user name and password when I try to run a report?
This password is required for Easy View to log in to the database specified
in the Crystal Reports rpt file.
Easy View can run in 2 modes:
- View the report with data saved in the rpt file.
This is the simplest way to run a report. Basically someone else has run
the report and saved data with the report. You are just viewing, printing
or exporting the report. Of course the big disadvantage of this is that you
are not viewing information from a live database.
To use Easy View in this mode you need to uncheck the box in the "Quick
Launch" screen that says "Discard saved report
data".
When you run the report in this mode Easy View will not attempt to connect
to any database. It will only run the report with the data saved in the rpt
file. If the report doesn't have any data in it Easy View will attempt to
connect to the database specified in the rpt file and you may be prompted
to log in.
- Run the report while connected to a live database.
To use Easy View in this mode you need to check the box in the "Quick
Launch" screen that says "Discard saved report
data".
This will cause Easy View to connect to to a database and get fresh data
each time the report is run whether it has saved data or not.
